Laura Loudon

Community Health Specialist

Laura is a Community Health Specialist on our Healthy Living / Healthier Communities team in Population and Public Health. Her focus is on mobilizing communities through collective action to address our most pressing population health challenges.

Laura started her career in exercise rehabilitation after graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Simon Fraser University.  Laura specialized in exercise for chronic conditions, in particular cardiac rehabilitation. As a Certified Exercise Physiologist with both the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology and the American College of Sports Medicine, she primarily worked in municipal recreation settings.

After more than 10 years working with clients, Laura seized the opportunity to move into health-related project management and community development. She has helped build several projects from the ground up including the BC Physical Activity Line and a community-based childhood obesity prevention project, Live 5210.

Laura is a mom to two young daughters and strives to be a good role model.  She loves to lift heavy weights, enjoys a good bike ride and would spend her life out in nature, camping, if she could.
